Site Lead, Sr. Systems Engineer

CSRA, Norfolk VA

​2015 - present

  • Designed and directed implementation of enterprise Host Based Security System (HBSS) configuration. Created system structure and policy templates that enabled security rules to be shared between five sites across the globe. Saved ~200 man-hours, annually.

  • Lead engineer for special projects and development. Supervised and managed team of two. Directly interfaced with client and vendors to create solutions for complex business and  technical challenges.

  • Led information assurance (IA) efforts: Network accreditation, vulnerability assessment, disaster and continuity planning, configuration control board. Secured “Excellent” rating on client’s first Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI).

 

Systems Engineer

  • Completed certification and accreditation (C&A) process at multiple classification levels as Information Assurance Officer (IAO) and C&A Project Lead. Acquired IATTs, IATOs, ATOs, IATCs, and ATCs. Drafted or revised Continuity of Operations (COOP) documents, Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs), and multiple Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Fluent with DoD security tools including: eMASS, STIGs, and ACAS. Experienced HBSS administrator. Assessed IA controls, evaluated asset vulnerabilities, drafted Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms), briefed DoD clients and Designated Approval Authority.

  • Co-led deployment of virtual training environment for cross-domain data transfer system course: Created detailed project plan, configured host devices, initiated multiple virtual switches. Imported seven virtual servers from remote site, created templates from servers, deployed 42 virtual machines / 13 virtual switches to six distinct resource pools. Limited total configuration time to less than five days, reducing normal non-virtualized configuration time by 50%. Drafted presentation for client senior leadership and program office leadership to highlight progress and benefits of training lab.

  • Appointed by client as site lead for Air Force enterprise network migration: Directed responses for all data requests, communicated directives and timelines between client and Air Force INOSC East via meetings, email, and phone. Provided on-site assistance during migration window. Servers, computers, user accounts, and email accounts were moved with 100% success while maintaining 99.99% availability.

  • Designed new classified & unclassified network topologies; procured $300K of new equipment, slashed network latency by 50%, and eliminated single point of failure.

  • Site lead for Navy weapon system enterprise network design; eliminated on-site contract requirements saving over $5,000,000 in operations and maintenance costs.

  • Technical lead for $1.5M migration to Air Force networks; Combatant Commander / 3-star level visibility.

  • ​Directly supervised team of six personnel. Performed all backups for unclassified network. Created/maintained backup schedules for 50+ servers, restored data upon customer request.

  • Managed Active Directory account functions for 3000+ unclassified users and 1800+ classified users. Redesigned and configured new classified network Active Directory authentication and structure, reducing network latency by 60%.

  • Administered file servers for 25 units. Controlled multiple storage area network devices.

 

Senior Information Protection Operations Administrator

  • Configured and maintained base firewalls, internet proxy server, and DNS servers. Managed DHCP scopes.

  • Spearheaded base network defense. Performed regular vulnerability assessments, designed, configured, and monitored Intrusion Detection System, first response for intrusion attempts.

  • Led Wing-wide smart phone implementation. Oversaw configuration of 70+ devices, wrote and instructed training class for administrators, provided technical support, co-developed troubleshooting guide that was used for entire Air Education and Training Command.

  • Instructed & revised course materials for Client Support Administrator class. Trained multiple Help Desk technicians.
